Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals in Indoor Dust >>>

A study published in Science of the Total Environment in 2023, “Endocrine disrupting chemicals in indoor dust” focused, among other topics, on impacts from human exposure.

Study says:

“Several chemicals with widespread consumer uses have been identified as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), with a potential risk to humans.”

“Although the estimated daily intake of most of the investigated compounds was mostly below what might be considered safe values, the co-exposure to a multitude of known or suspected EDCs requires a better understanding of mixture effects.”

“Due to limited toxicological and human health data of these compounds, in particular in combination with other chemicals, the potential risk of human exposure to these chemicals via indoor dust cannot be fully addressed and should be approached from a precautionary principle.”

According to Allen Rathey, founder and executive director of the nonprofit Indoor Exposure Index: “In other words, since dust contains hundreds if not thousands of chemicals in mixtures that cannot be assessed for health impacts, less is more, or reduce, reduce, reduce exposures to dust.”
